STP FAQ
1. What is an STP?
STP stands for "stand-to-pee." It is a device which allows a person to urinate in a standing position.
2. Why would I want an STP?
There are many reasons why you might want to purchase an STP. There are several varieties available today, from the Whiz Freedom(R) to the GoGirl(R). They were developed for use by females during travel, camping, sporting events and anytime a clean toilet was unavailable. They direct urine out and away from the body to avoid soiling your clothes.
For female-to-male transgenders or transmen, however, STPs take on a deeper meaning. Custom-made inside soft packs that resemble male genitalia, STPs provide a way of identifying and presenting the right image during transition. One of the most common, is to use a urinal within the men's restroom.
3. How is an STP made?
All STPs have a similar construction. They consists of a urine receptacle, and a spout or tubing to direct urine away from the body. On this site we have a variety of custom-made STPs. We offer receptacles of different shapes and sizes, and tubing made from both latex and latex-free materials. All of our products are contained within a silicone or cyberskin soft pack. We also offer custom designed STP's by FormFunction that are made from 100% Platinum silicone and have no tubing or receptacles.
4. How do I choose which STP is best for me?
Which STP is best for you is a matter of personal preference. Differences in weight and body structure may make one type easy to use, while another is almost impossible to work with. We suggest asking friends and "chat-room" buddies for their experiences with STPs. You are also welcome to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
5. How do I choose the right size STP?
When you order an STP, you will need to choose the proper length. The sizes listed in the drop down boxes are the length of the packer only. Depending on the receptacle you choose, it will add anywhere from 1 to 3 additional inches to the total length. You will need to take that extra length into account when ordering, so that the total overall size of the STP is not too large for your body. The STPs by FormFuction all have their sizes listed and are all long enough to urinate thru your zipper. We also have the new child sized STP, Model E for our under teen age customers.
6. How do I use an STP?
Okay, I received my STP. Now what do I do? Well, our suggestion is practice, practice, practice. Don't make the mistake of trying to use it for the first time when you are out in public. We suggest trying it out in the tub or shower. Stand with your legs comfortably apart. With one hand, reach down and spread your labia apart. Holding the STP in the other hand (usually your dominant hand) place the receptacle between your legs and position under the urethra. The urethra is the tube which connects the bladder to the genitals to remove urine. It is generally located just above the vaginal opening. Allow your urine to flow. Practice controlling the rate of flow so that urine does not overflow the receptacle.
7. How do I clean my STP?
First of all, do not take your STP apart. This is not necessary for cleaning and can actually destroy the connections between the receptacle and tubing. To clean, hand-wash your STP in mild soap and water. Do not place it in boiling water or in the dishwasher. The cyberskin soft packs will melt at high temperatures. Urine is sterile, so you just need to wash out any excess and clean any bacteria from the packer. After cleaning, pat dry and let air dry before using again.
8. Can I use an STP for sexual play?
STPs are not intended for penetration. They are designed only as a urinary product.
9. How long will my STP last?
With proper care, your STP will last for a while. It is impossible for us to know exactly, because it depends on how you use and take care of it. Eventually, however, the STP will need to be replaced.
